We are excited to welcome Nawla Cheatham, LMHCA, to the Thrive for Life Counseling team. Nawla brings over 16 years of experience supporting children, teens, adults, couples, and families, and we are honored to have her join our growing group practice.
Nawla is known for her calm, compassionate presence and her ability to help clients feel safe, understood, and supported. She works with individuals navigating anxiety, emotional overwhelm, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. Clients often describe her as patient, attentive, and deeply invested in their growth and healing.
A Therapist with Extensive Experience Across the Lifespan
Nawla has spent her career working with diverse populations across educational, community, and clinical settings. She has extensive experience supporting children under 12, adolescents, young adults, adults, couples, and families. Her background allows her to thoughtfully tailor therapy to each client’s unique needs and stage of life.
She specializes in trauma-informed care, helping clients process difficult experiences while building emotional regulation, coping skills, and resilience. Nawla also supports clients through grief and loss, anxiety, stress, and family or relationship concerns.
Evidence-Based and Creative Approaches to Therapy
Nawla is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and integrates play therapy and art therapy when working with children and adolescents, making therapy engaging, developmentally appropriate, and effective. Her approach balances structure and creativity, offering practical tools while honoring each client’s personal story.
She also brings a strong understanding of emotional regulation and nervous system support, helping clients develop skills they can use both inside and outside of sessions.

Nawla accepts most major insurance plans, as well as FSA and HSA cards, private pay, and some out-of-network benefits.
She is also currently working toward her doctorate, reflecting her commitment to continued learning and professional excellence.
